Maureen's Waltz composed by Catriona McKay for solo harp or harp/flute/melody/chord instrument

A waltz which explores the rise and fall of a ballet dancer as they move.

This pdf includes a score for solo harp (as recorded on the cd HARPONIUM) and a new version for harp, flute/melody inst. and a chord part to allow further ensemble playing.

(This waltz was composed as a gift for my mother 

Maureen McKay when she retired in 2012 after 45 years 

as a ballet teacher in Dundee, Scotland.

I was imagining her reaching out her beautiful arms exploring the space,

losing herself in the spirit of dance, spinning round to whip up the energy in the airwaves,

concluding with a graceful curtsy to give thanks for the gift of movement.
